Great Risotto Cookoff Contest!

Evviva! members are working very hard on the annual GREAT RISOTTO COOKOFF CONTEST on January 26, 2008 at Palio D'Asti restaurant. This successful event, which sells out every year is great fun! Where else can you see executives, doctors, lawyers, journalists and politicians stirring huge pots of risotto? And the suspense: who will win the competition?

Mark this on your calendar. Bring friends/family and enjoy a Prosecco tasting before sampling 7 different risottos along with salad, dessert and wine.

Come join us to celebrate today's Italy!

Evviva! is a group of young professionals who are interested in promoting contemporary Italian art and culture through events as well as existing programs offered by the Museo ItaloAmericano. This group forms a vital part of the Museo ItaloAmericano, one of the most progressive institutions devoted to the preservation of Italian-American art and culture in the United States.

The group is led by its own Officers and all members are encouraged to participate in the development and execution of unique social and cultural activities.

What do Evviva! members do?

They get together once a month to socialize, meet new people, have fun and keep up with Italian culture.

Here's what's planned for 2007

February - Meet with graduate students from Italy who are at UC Berkeley, learn what is going on in Italy and enjoy a simple Italian cena (pasta, salad, and desert).

March - Italians had a great influence on the development of Argentine tango: did you know that? A lecture will explain all. It will be followed by a tango lesson and demonstration.

April - All you wanted to know about olive oil but were afraid to ask: A lecture and book presentation by Carol Firenze, followed by oil tasting. Free to members - $10 non-members.

May - Museo's famous bocce tournament at Acquatic Park.
On Saturday, May 19th, EVVIVA! held our annual Bocce Day at the SF Bocce Club! The picnic fare, thank you to chef Susana Panari, was fabulous and gave us the fuel to play some great Bocce. Everyone had a chance to play some rousing games and a good time was had by all. The surprise visit by Joe DeMartini, recently returned from his reserve duty overseas, was an added treat (Joe is one of the founding members and a former officer of EVVIVA!).

June - A foot race to faise funds for the Museo.
On Sunday, June 3rd, EVVIVA! participated in the San Francisco Italian Athletic Club's 87th Annual Statuto Race. This race is one of the oldest foot races in America - a strong part of our Italian American North Beach heritage!

July - A picnic in Sonoma (informal bocce games included).
Stay tuned for your Evite!

August 7th - Italian heritage night at an SF Giants game.

September - Vendemmia at an Italian winery

October - Dinner at International House with Italian students

November - Italian Film Festival

December - Festa di Natale
