PHOTOGRAPHY 101

Saturdays, beginning January 17, 2009 from 10:00 - 12:00 noon

The Museo is pleased to announce the first photography course! Italian photojournalist Nicolo Minerbi will teach you the secrets of creating a good image, using a digital camera or even a cell phone. He will teach you theory and practice using digital slideshows and shoot tests.

Nicolo Minerbi is an Italian professional photojournalist based in San Francisco (www.nicolominerbi.it). He works for Italian and International magazines such as Vanity Fair, National Geographic Traveler, Top Gear, Financial Times, The Times (London), Stern and Muze. He is represented by Grazia Neri agency, Milano- Italy (www.grazianeri.com)

There will be 9 two hours weekly classes plus an outdoor shooting day

Lesson 1 - what photography is all about with every type of camera, including cell phones

Lesson 2 - how to look at a subject (portraits, still life, landscapes); how to choose the right moment for a photo

Lesson 3 - how to visualize the photo before you take it and how to take the perfect photo for your purpose ( a portrait, vacation souvenir, or a ) photo to be used on ebay

Lesson 4 - how to use light, about panning and long shutter speed

Lesson 5 - lens and DOF (depth of field). The best lens for each subject

Lesson 6 - how to put together all you have learned and be ready for the CHALLENGE: the outdoor shooting day

Lesson 7 - outdoor shooting day with your new friends and your teacher

Lesson 8 - EDITING - how to choose the best photos and how to put them together to tell a story

Lesson 9 - POST PRODUCTION - learn to use the "contemporary darkroom" (computer and software)

Lesson 10 - how to prepare your photo for a special show at the Museo

Required equipment: digital camera, laptop
